The Overview

As an exploratory deep-dive into luxury print production and material tactile feedback, I designed and completely hand-fabricated a premium, multi-sensory paper sample reference book for Legion Paper. The objective was to create a high-end, coffee-table-grade resource for fine artists that showcases the raw integrity, absorption, and texture variance of Legion's premium watercolor collections.

The Strategy & Craft

Bespoke Artistic Testing: Created a series of original, hand-drawn ink and watercolor illustrations directly on the various paper stocks. By avoiding full-surface mounting, users can physically touch individual swatches and examine exactly how different paper weights interact with wet mediums.

Mixed-Material Structural Binding: Engineered a custom, organic book cover utilizing laser-engraved wood panels wrapped in hand-softened leather, creating a premium, tactile opening experience that mirrors the natural tones of the fine art papers.

Artisanal Bookbinding Execution: Hand-sewed the entire publication directly into the leather spine using a highly detailed, exposed structural stitching pattern, ensuring flawless mechanical execution and durability.
