The Overview

Avión Tequila partnered with Hub Folding Box to create a limited-edition, luxury Value-Added Package (VAP) celebrating Día de los Muertos. Tasked with translating a single promotional key visual into a physical retail experience, I conceptually engineered the packaging structure and surface graphics to evoke an authentic ofrenda (altar), housing both the premium bottle and celebratory prayer candles.

The Strategy & Impact

Advanced Asset Deconstruction: Dissected flat, complex key art to isolate primary visual motifs. I extracted the central skull artwork and custom-painted a rich, contrasting interior teal pattern derived from the original palette, creating an immersive "inside-the-box" unboxing experience.

Dimensional Floral Architecture: Developed an expansive, continuous pattern utilizing isolated marigold assets. I engineered the layout to wrap across the exterior panels, creating a dynamic visual illusion of flowers overflowing naturally off the box.

Premium Manufacturing Finish Execution: Spec’d and managed an intricate matrix of luxury print finishes—combining an all-over gloss coat, precise gold foil stamping, and deep embossing on select brand typography to command maximum attention on high-end retail shelves.

Structural Window Engineering: Designed a non-traditional, multi-panel die-cut window that seamlessly extended around the corner onto the right side panel. This structural innovation maximized ambient light exposure, beautifully framing the intricate bottle contours and candles to optimize shelf-presence.
